Lecture: Painter in a Savage Land: The Strange Saga of the First European Artist in North America with author Miles Harvey
Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 7 p.m.
 
Author and map scholar Miles Harvey revisits the narrow escape of Elizabethan-era artist Jacques Le Moyne from massacre at Jacksonville’s Fort Caroline.  After the lecture, visit Le Moyne’s original painted botanical works in the Mason Gallery, and historic engravings by Theodore de Bry based on Le Moyne’s depictions of Timucuan culture in the Jacobsen Gallery.  Book signing with Miles Harvey following the lecture.
