Historic weapons demonstrations will be presented at the Castillo de
San Marcos each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30,
2:30, & 3:30. Rangers
and volunteers in Spanish colonial period uniforms will demonstrate the
weapons and relate the experiences of the colonial Spanish soldier of
1740s St. Augustine. Firing times are subject to change depending on
weather conditions and staff availability.

Crocodile Rock II will be held from 6:30 to 10pm on Friday, Oct. 9. Cloud 9 will again provide covers of all the best 70’s songs with dancing under the stars and SAiRA (St. Augustine Independent Restaurant Association) will be catering the event. Also back by popular demand, will be “Vinyl Idol”, the 70’s version of American Idol. Last year, locals dressed up and sang their hearts out as the Village People, the Partridge Family, the Mamas and Papas, Ike & Tina Turner as well as Chuck Berry. This year’s Vinyl Idol promises more famous 70’s personalities. Also back by popular demand is the costume contest – the perfect opportunity for anyone hiding polyester in their closet!

Painting the Region: The Bartram Trail 40 Artists at locations in Northwest St. Johns County A benefit for the North Florida Land Trust and the St. Johns Cultural Council Events open to the public.
From Oct. 6-10 artists will be painting at Alpine Groves Country Park from 10am-4pm daily and the public is welcome to come observe artists painting at selected venues or participate in free
daytime activities and ticketed evening receptions to promote the
artists. Events include a St. Johns Chamber meet-and-greet reception,
cocktails and appetizers at sunset on the St. Johns River, and on
Saturday, a family day with fun educational activities for children and
parents, food for sale and great music, Saturday, October 10, 2009,
North Florida Land Trust will hold its 10th anniversary celebration at
Alpine Groves County Park. Artwork produced during the preceding five
days will continue to be on exhibit and for sale to the public.
