A Classic Theatre is holding auditions for Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Please bring headshots/resumes if available.

About Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike

Christopher Durang’s Tony Award winning comedic mash-up of the themes and character names of Anton Chekhov with modern-day absurdities. It is widely considered an absolute joy for actors to perform because of its highly eccentric characters, brilliant comedic timing, and massive emotional outbursts.
The role of Masha has been pre-cast but other roles are available.
Available Roles:
* Vanya – 50-65 — Middle aged man who has spent most of his life caring for his family and living in the shadow of his famous sister, Masha. Intelligent, sensitive, and deeply frustrated
* Sonia – 50-65 — Sonia is Vanya’s adopted sister, a deeply insecure woman who has also devoted her life to caring for others.
* Spike 20-30 — Masha’s young, narcissistic, handsome boyfriend – a Hollywood actor, with a certain vulnerability and uncertainty.
* Cassandra – any age — The family’s outspoken housekeeper, prone to making dire, comic and unsettling predictions about what is coming.
* Nina – 20-30 — Nina is young, energetic, idealistic, and emotionally open. She should have energy, curiosity, confidence.
