Rebel Waters / Aguas Rebeldes Exhibition

Rebel Waters / Aguas Rebeldes Exhibition features work by moving image artist Nicole Antebi. The artwork can be viewed August 31 to November 7, 2026 at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum.

Antebi grew up in the El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico regions – her work focuses on the history of these landscapes, specifically the once-meandering Rio Grande/Rio Bravo and the Santa Cruz River. She employs sculpture and animation to tell the story of the region and the environmental, social, political, and economic pressures that have afflicted this landscape for over a century.

The public is invited to an Opening Reception on Friday, September 4, 2026 — 5:00pm-8:00pm – during First Friday Art Walk. An exhibition walk-through will be led by Antebi.  Free and open to the public.

You can also join her and Dr. Jennifer Saracino, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Arizona, in conversation on Monday, September 28, at 6:00pm in the Virginia Room, located in the Ringhaver Student Center.  Free and open to the public.

Museum Hours:  Monday – Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm | Saturday, 12:00pm to 4:00pm (while classes are in session)
