The St. Augustine Community
St. Augustine brings visitors from all over looking to make the nation’s oldest city home.
While St. Augustine has been a major tourist destination since Henry Flagler began developing his grandiose winter resorts here in the 1880s, it is also a close-knit community of residents. Tourists and residents both turn out to support our local businesses and events, mingling together, helping build St. Augustine’s unique character. When people choose to make St. Augustine their home, it’s for all the same reasons that visitors flock here from around the world. St. Augustine’s residents are just as likely to be seen strolling down St. George Street, taking in a free concert in the park or enjoying the beach as our many visitors want to.
