Join us at Lewis Auditorium when Apex Theatre Studio’s Penquin Project presents Shrek The Musical Jr., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical.
It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, it’s an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
About The Penquin Project
Every year, across the country, a group of young artists take to the stage to perform a modified version of a well-known musical. Productions are unique because all of the roles are filled by young artists with developmental disabilities. They include Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other neurological disorders. They are joined on stage by a dedicated group of ‘peer mentors’. These children – the same age without disabilities – have volunteered to work side-by-side with them through four months of rehearsals and through the final performance.
Performance Information: Saturday & Sunday, July 27 & 28, 2024 | 2:00pm-3:30pm
Tickets: $22.00 – General Admission
