Discover more humor in the world while laughing with new friends during Intro to Stand-Up Community Comedy
During this introductory class, you’ll dip your toes in the stand-up comedy waters while learning about yourself and finding humor in the world around you. Experiment with different approaches to joke writing while picking and choosing the concepts that work best for you as you lean into your own personality. Gain experience in topic selection, set organization, and stage presence—all in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
Instructor/stand-up comedian Julie Sandoval will bring out the comedian inside any community member who wants to step out of their comfort zone! Julie’s step-by-step approach to the art of stand-up comedy will teach community members to:
*Overcome performance fear
*Write material
*Create a five-minute stand-up set
*Find timing that delivers
*Discover, and play with, stage personas
*And most importantly laugh, have fun, and make new friends
Practicing stand-up comedy is a great way to improve communication skills, sharpen thinking skills, and boost self-confidence. The course ends with a student showcase on the last day of class.
