The St. Augustine Archaeological Association Monthly Meeting for March is on the 5th at 7:00pm in the Tiffany Room of Flagler College. Free and open to the public.

Alexandria Griffin will be giving a talk titled, “The History of Cape Canaveral prior to NASA”. Griffin is a senior undergraduate anthropology student at the University of Central Florida and a recipient of the SAAA Eugene Lyon Education Fund in 2023.

Last spring, Griffin participated in a joint project between the UCF Anthropology Department and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station known as the Cape Canaveral Archaeological Mitigation Project (CCAMP). During CCAMP, Griffin worked on uncovering and restoring undocumented graves in historic cemeteries on base. In her presentation, Griffin will share insights into the founding families of Cape Canaveral taken from these historic contexts.
