Birding by Boat at Fort Matanzas

Looking for a unique way to view our feathered friends?!  Then you’ll want to check out Birding by Boat at Fort Matanzas on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Please Note:  Starting on Monday, October 7, 2024 the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments will be closed. This includes all scheduled programs.  This is in anticipation of severe weather and potential impacts from Hurricane Milton.

Fort Matanzas is a stop on the Great Florida Birding Trail. As such, it protects a number of ecosystems including beaches, dunes, coastal hammock, and marsh. Frequent flyers to the area include terns, bald eagles, osprey, roseate spoonbills, and black skimmers. You’ll be able to observe them much better on a boat ride!

Three, one-hour cruises are being offered.

Cruise times: 9:30am | 11:00am | 12:30pm

Be sure to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray. Wearing closed-toed shoes, a hat, and sunglasses is strongly recommended.

Binoculars will be available to borrow as supplies last.

The event is weather permitting.

Free …  however, space is limited.  Please call 904-471-0116 to sign-up … or stop by the visitor center to reserve your space! Reservations open at 9:00am on September 8.
