Black Box Sessions at Limelight
The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Limelight Theatre have joined forces to launch Black Box Sessions at the Limelight. The new concert series is designed to showcase celebrated artists in a close-up, immersive setting.
Debuting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in the Matuza Black Box Theatre — acclaimed Kentucky cellist, composer, and vocalist Ben Sollee will be performing. There will be two performances —
Show: 6:30pm | Doors open 6:00pm
Show: 9:00pm | Doors open 8:30pm
Blurring the boundaries between folk, classical, and soulful Americana, Sollee has captivated audiences for nearly two decades with his signature cello work and introspective songwriting. His latest release, Long Haul (2024), threads together chapters of his artistic journey, drawing on influences from the American and global South.
Sollee has leaned into his work as a composer; scoring films such as LAND from director Robin Wright, and Maggie Morre(s), a John Slattery film featuring Tina Fey and Jon Hamm. He also scored the podcast series Unreformed, which was recently nominated for a Peabody Award. Outside of music, Sollee helped launch the non-profit Canopy, which supports Kentucky businesses positively impacting their communities and planet.
