Join us at the First Baptist Church of Armstrong on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 11:00am for a Black History Program. African-American historian Griffin Lotson is the guest speaker.
Griffin is a seventh-generation Gullah Geechee, expert Cultural Art performer, storyteller, and Gullah Geechee Culture Consultant and Teacher. He is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on the Gullah Geechee Ring Shout and the history of Kumbaya. This has landed him with opportunities working for and with many local, national, and international documentaries. That includes Hollywood productions, including the movie ‘Roots’ and Oprah Winfrey’s television production ‘Queen Sugar’.
As a researcher and expert in the Gullah Geechee Culture, he is frequently called upon by schools, universities, colleges, as well as others to render his knowledge on the Gullah Geechee culture.
An old-time Gullah Geechee dinner will also be served.
