Join SJC Parks & Rec for a guided Butler Beach History Walk. St. Johns County coastal areas have lots of stories to tell and Butler Beach’s is historically significant. Walk back in time and learn about the rich African-American history here at our doorsteps.  Butler Beach was once one of the few places African Americans could enjoy the beach during segregation.

Explore the rich past of St. Johns County’s historic segregated beach and the legacy of Frank Butler. Learn how Butler, a visionary entrepreneur and community leader, played a pivotal role in creating this safe and welcoming space for his community.
