Centennial Celebration – 100 Years of Preservation at Fort Matanzas

Fort Matanzas National Monument was created by President Calvin Coolidge … on October 15, 1924!  Are you wondering how it differs today?  Then you’ll want to be here when living historians portraying visitors from 1924 will be available to answer questions on every fort tour.

Living Historian Tour Dates Fall 2024:
* Saturday, September 21
* Saturday, October 5
* Tuesday, October 15
* Sunday, October 20
* Sunday, November 3

Tour Times:  9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, and 3:30pm

All tours are weather permitting!  The ferry does not operate when lightning is in close proximity or in dangerous winds. Tours are actually offered every day except for Tuesdays … with the exception of the special tour above.

Located on an island, Fort Matanzas is only accessible by the National Park Service ferry.

The ferry tour is free! However, since the ferry has a limited capacity, boarding passes are required.

Boarding passes can be claimed at the park visitor center starting at 9:00am on the same day of use — on a first come, first served basis. Boarding passes may not be claimed days in advance, online, or over the phone.
