Colonial Night Watch Events 2024 – Encampment and Torchlight Parade

Join us for the Historic Florida Militia’s Colonial Night Watch Events 2024.

Friday, December 6, 2024 from 6:30pm-8:00pm — reenactors will be at the Castillo de San Marcos participating in Enemy at the Gates.  As you walk around a lantern and torch lite Castillo, history comes to life as townspeople get caught up in the 1740 bombardment and siege of St. Augustine.  Space is limited.

Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10:00am to 4:00pm — visit the Colonial Quarter.  You’ll find a military encampment representing British, Spanish and East Florida Ranger troops. Many accoutrements of the period are on display along with musket firings in the Colonial Quarter throughout the day.  The Colonial Quarter Stage hosts performances of living historians in period clothing.

Saturday, December 7, 2024 starting at 7:00pm — take in the Colonial Night Watch Torchlight Parade.  Starting at the Castillo de San Marco, re-enactors march to the City Gates where the public is invited to join in or watch from the sidelines. The parade proceeds down St. George Street, ending at the Government House where there are speeches of “welcome”. After three “Volleys of Joy” are fired by the troops, all are invited to join in signing old-tyme Christmas Carols.
