Join us on Saturday, November 4, 2023 when the Fort Mose Historical Society presents Fort Mose First Harvest.

The event celebrates the first harvest of Fort Mose which was founded in March of 1738.  During Summer and early Fall of that year, new homesteaders were busy building their homes and the fort. They were also busy planting their first crops and tending to their livestock. Governor Montiano provided food rations from the government’s stores until they could harvest their first crops.

Participants will learn about the Spanish, African, and Native American food traditions and cultural influences.

Re-enactors in Period Dress * Farmers Market * Colonial Cooking Demonstrations * Demonstrations by Fort Mose Militia * Activities for Children & Youth such as junior militia training, corn husk dolls, beaded leather jewelry and more

The event is outdoors and free to the public.  Admission to the visitor center/museum is $2 per adult, children under six are free.
