During Women’s History Month , The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine will hold a special exhibit, a trolley tour, and two Lunch & Learn events.  The Lunch & Learn Events are about the St. Augustine friendship of Zora Neale Hurston and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

Zora Neale Hurston, “the daughter of a slave”, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, “an upper-middle-class Yankee”, first met at Florida Normal in St. Augustine. Hurston was there teaching creative writing. Both women were at the height of their literary creativity. Rawlings had achieved wild success with her Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Yearling, and Hurston had published Their Eyes Were Watching God.
