Calling all history buffs.  Come check out The School of the 16th Century on Friday and Saturday, April 19 & 20, 2024 from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Oldest House Museum.

This event is designed to show/teach you everything you would want to know about life in the 16th Century (1513-1586) in St. Augustine.  Historic Weapons * Artillery * Armor – Equipment and Accessories * Clothing * Crafts – Culinary Arts * Religious Practices * Camp Life.

Learn about military drills and how to fire a crossbow or musket … or even a cannon.  Watch demonstrations about clothing, cooking and other skills that were used during that timeframe.  New this year are courses on the women of the Menendez expedition and primitive fabric dyeing.

Admission to the informative 16th-century encampment will be free and open to the public on Saturday April 20.

Presented by the Men of Menéndez Living History Interpreters and St. Augustine Historical Society.
