About St. Augustine Greek Festival

Immerse yourself in Greek culture and heritage at this 26th Annual event!  This 2-day Festival encompasses all things Greek…music, food, dance and more!

You’ll find the festival has changed for 2024 … seated dinners are being offered …. Taverna Style where guests are transported to the charm of a Greek restaurant.   Enjoy an authentic sit-down, multi-course meal, Greek wine, along with the sounds of Greek music and traditional Greek folk dancing.   The change to the festival does require you to purchase tickets in advance.  You’ll have three options to choose from:  dinner on Friday or Saturday or lunch on Saturday.

During the dinner seating on Friday and Saturday, guests are seated at a table filled with bread, skordalia, cheese, olives and tzatziki.  For the main entrée, guests will have the choice of lamb, chicken, pastitisio or vegetarian (the selection made when tickets are purchased).

Lunch on Saturday is family-oriented lunch with the meal served buffet style before sitting down at the Taverna tables.  Once seated, guests will enjoy ambiance of Greek music and dance performances.

The Kafenio will be serving up Greek frappes and friendly bartenders will have plenty of ouzo lemonade available for purchase.

Guests will also have the opportunity to shop at the Church’s Agora (market), the St. Theodora’s Gift Shop and Bookstore as well as the Zaharoplastio (for pastries and treats to take home!).

Greek Food

During festivals in the past, the Greek food offered has ranged from appetizers to desserts … and even Greek liquor.  All delicious!  Meals started with the traditional Greek salad, then you could choose from entrees like roasted lamb or moussaka (similar to shepherd’s pie but with eggplant and béchamel sauce).  Or, festival goers could opt for an item off the grill like a gyro or pork or chicken Souvlaki dinner or sandwich.

Afterward, guests could take their pick from baklava (a filo pastry with walnuts and spice and topped with honey), kataifi (rolled shredded filo filled with walnuts and dipped in honey), melomakarona (honey dipped spice cookies with ground nuts), and a variety of other tasty pastries for dessert.   Of course, you could eat your dessert there or take it home … if it made it that far.
